On the day Shiv Sena called for strict action against the people involved in unfurling ISIS, also called IS, flags in Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir director general of police (DGP) Koondaveeti Rajendra Kumar said there was no ISIS ideology in the valley.
“Every case (or raising ISIS flags) is being investigated. We have not seen such ideology in Kashmir,” Rajendra told reporters at Kishtwar, in Jammu division.
Kashmir valley has been witnessing hoisting of ISIS flags and banners by some masked youth particularly in old city after Friday prayers. It follows the heavy stone pelting on the security forces deployed at most of the places.
Sources said police had picked up several youths since the hoisting of the flags last year, but investigation did not reveal any organisational structure for the ISIS in the valley. Even separatist leaders have openly condemned ISIS and stated that there are no traces of the dreaded outfit in the valley.
“Anti infiltration and counter terrorist operation is a continuous process. It is a regular feature. Situation is under control. Terrorist actions and crime is on decline,” said Rajendra.
DGP’s statement comes on the day when Shiv Sena demanded strict action against the people unfurling ISIS flags in Kashmir. Sena’s mouthpiece Samana said India should deal with periodic incidents of waving of ISIS flags in Kashmir with an ‘iron hand.’
