Delhi Election: President Draupadi Murmu, Rahul Gandhi, Sisodia cast their votes
President Draupadi Murmu cast her vote at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya in President’s Estate on Wednesday. Voting for 70 assembly seats has started in Delhi on Wednesday morning. Voters exercised their franchise for the 8th Assembly amid tight security.
Assembly elections are being held in Delhi. Voters are exercising their votes on Wednesday for the assembly elections in Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Hardeep Singh Puri, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are among the early voters who exercised their franchise in the morning.
Among those who cast their votes early in the morning were Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi unit president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Virendra Sachdeva, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R. Alice Vaz. AAP candidate from Greater Kailash Saurabh Bharadwaj, BJP candidate from Karawal Nagar Kapil Mishra, Congress candidate from New Delhi assembly seat Sandeep Dixit and party candidate from Kalkaji Alka Lamba also cast their votes soon after polling began at 7 am.

Voters exercised their franchise for the 8th assembly amid tight security. Officials said polling began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.
Delhi has 1,56,14,000 registered voters, including 83,76,173 men, 72,36,560 women and 1,267 third-gender voters. The voters also include 2,39,905 first-time voters in the age group of 18-19 years, 1,09,368 senior voters aged 85 years and above and 79,885 persons with disabilities.
Around 97,955 personnel and 8,715 volunteers have been deployed for the election. Security measures include 220 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 19,000 home guards and 35,626 Delhi Police personnel to ensure peaceful polling.
