In solidarity with the innocent Shia killings in Iraq, a candle light march was organised in the old city area of Lucknow on 2nd July 2014 under the command of eminent Shia cleric Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawad Naqvi.
The gathering of hundreds of people marching from the Bada Imambada till the Shaheed Smarak lit up the late evening sky with their candles, as women, children and men from not just Shia backgrounds but also other faiths joined in to commemorate the loss of lives.
The peaceful march commenced from the gates of the Bada Imambada with slogans and chants of ‘Labbaik ya Hussain’ (we are with Hussain) filling up the air.
In the wake of the ISIS/ISIL killings in Iraq and surrounding areas, Luckow has been abuzz with activity too. While mass prayers and candle lights are being organised in the city for peace and amity to be maintained, determination and courage have been brimming the surface too with men signing up for fighing against the terrorists in Iraq.
