First day of nomination: Six citizens including one woman aspire to be President of India

New Delhi: As many as six candidates – three of them from Maharashtra including one woman – today filed nominations for the ensuing Presidential elections on the first day of nominations, an official source said here.

Among them, three others hail one each from Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

Of the candidates from Maharashtra, Pune-based Kondekar Vijayprakash filed two sets of nominations.

Mumbai’s Saira Bano Mohammed Patel, who hails from suburb Andheri, is another aspirant for the coveted post of country’s first citizen, while another ‘Mumbaikar’ (a resident of Mumbai) Mohammed Patel Abdul Hamid has also filed his nomination papers.
