In order to develop natural gas infrastructure and better distribution system, Government of Uttar Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corp. here today. The MoU was signed by Principal Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development, Mr Sanjiv Saran on State government’s behalf and General Manager-Gas, Mr R K Tikku, Chief Manager-Gas, Mr R K Zutshi and Deputy General Manager-Consumer Sales signed for Indian Oil in the presence of Principal Secretary, Information, Mr Navneet Sahgal and other senior officials.
Principal Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development, Mr Sanjiv Saran said, “Under this MoU, Indian Oil and State government will jointly prepare a new project plan for gas infrastructure and distribution in the state.” “According to this plan, New pipelines will be laid and CNG stations will be opened under city gas projects”, he added.
Mr Sanjiv Saran said that joint venture of Indian Oil had started work on City Gad Project in Allahabad, which would enable piped gas supply to households of Allahabad within a year and half along with provision of gas facility for industrial areas.
As per MoU, a join team will be formed to prepare a plan for swift implementation of City Gas projects in Allahabad and other cities of the State. Besides, action plan will also be prepared to promote use of natural gas in the State.
