Three Ethiopian expatriates, including two women, were arrested for brewing liquor in the capital.
The Riyadh police made the arrest when they found the man distributing bottles of homemade liquor among his customers.
Upon further investigation, police raided the suspect’s house, where they found two women involved in manufacturing liquor. “The women were not related to the suspect,” police said.
During the raid, the police found 12 barrels of liquor and 60 water bottles filled with liquor. The patrol team had handed the suspects to the Manfouha police in the south of the capital.
Officials at the Manfouha police station are making further inquiries to ascertain if more people are involved in the scheme.
An official said the suspects will be summoned before the general court in Riyadh for punishment.
Such offenses are liable for a punishment by jail, lashes and deportation.
The police said it would continue to fight such forms of anti-social activity.
Police recently busted a similar operation in the Nasseriyah District in Riyadh, where four Indian expatriates were arrested for brewing liquor. The police arrested them upon complaints received from their neighbors.
