New Delhi/Hyderabad: Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said on Tuesday that there is no plan to impose President’s Rule in Andhra Pradesh.
Shinde said that the matter will not be under consideration when the Union Cabinet will meet later today. The Home Minister said that he is in constant touch with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on the situation in the state. 
“I am monitoring the situation and I am in constant touch with the Chief Minister,” Shinde said, adding that the only concern as of now was the power situation in the state.
Clearly, the Congress appears determined to press ahead with its separate Telangana plan notwithstanding the stiff opposition from Seemandhra leaders, who are rooting for united Andhra position.
Yesterday, the central government had conveyed to Andhra Pradesh High Court that it would exercise the option if it feels that the state is unable to handle the situation.
The Congress has reasons to be cautious on imposition of central rule in the state and may opt to wait and watch for now. However, with YSR Congress’ Jaganmoan Reddy and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on hunger strikes, the situation remains unpredictable.
Shinde also spoke on the issue that both Jaganmohan Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu had earlier agreed to the formation of Telangana.
