Addressing a large gathering here, Yadav blamed Modi for failing to stop the communal violence in Gujarat in 2002.
Saying that his son and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was running an ideal government in Uttar Pradesh, he said the Samajwadi Party did not differentiate between people on caste and community lines.
“The state government is doing well and the opposition parties have failed to nail us on anything, and so are levelling baseless charges,” he said.
He accused the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government of failing to curb rising food prices and corruption.
He insisted that no government would be formed after the Lok Sabha election without the Samajwadi Party.
Speaking earlier, Akhilesh Yadav accused the media and opposition parties of launching a smear campaign against his government.
“A few film artists came to Saifai and the event grabbed national headlines while good things and development done by our government are not acknowledged,” the 41-year-old said.
